Postcard Views

From an online auction site come these interesting though undated views of Kingston's waterfront. From Fort Frederick, freight cars are visible in front of City Hall (top). The Richardson elevator is visible in another view from Royal Military College:
The Richardson and Montreal Transportation elevators are in this RMC card:
 And this one:
This sepia-toned view takes us closer, dated 1900:
And from above RMC, the causeway bridge is up for a motorboat as the CN freight shed, coal piles, Canadian Dredge & Dock and oil tanks spread out through the middle of this more modern card:
 And toward downtown:
And ending with another RMC, albeit much earlier, card which includes some tall-stacked lakers:
A commonly-seen postcard angle, with the CPR station, City hall and downtown front-and-centre:
Another example, captioned 1960:
A nice view with Canadian Locomotive Co. at bottom left:
A similar angle, though decades later. The OHIP building is under construction, and large bulk storage oil tanks still line the Hanley Spur!

  1. Very nice postcards and images. Any of Collin's Bay? Do you know when the single railroad bridge there was replaced with the causeway?

  2. Thanks, 42nd! I haven't worked my way west to Collins Bay just yet. Do you mean the bridge that currently crosses the very end of Collins Bay? If so, I would imagine that may have occurred when the line was double-tracked, around the turn of the last century.
