Hanley Spur, The End, 1980

Looking south from the River Street bridge. CP at left, CN at right. CN's ballast is better.
While it's relatively easy to do a quick online search and find images along the Hanley Spur, they tend to be limited. City Hall, K&P Station, even CPR's North Street roundhouse. But what did the Hanley Spur trackage look like just before the end? The construction of the OHIP building on Wellington Street killed the Hanley Spur, terminating its southerly portion thereby much of its reason for existing.
Looking north along the C.E. McPherson spur which crossed Rideau Street, the River Street bridge is in the distance. CN at left, CP at right (above) with bridge protected by tell-tale.

Online industries included the large Anglin yard at Bay and Wellington Streets:

Looking north from North Street. CN's trackage is truncated. CP trackage continues here.
In May 1980, Hans Boldt photographed these amazing trackside scenes along the Hanley Spur in black & white. These are precious photos. Hans shared them on his website, largely uninterpreted. I'm sharing them here with appropriate photo credit to Hans. Fun fact: I worked with Hans' mother, Jane. Hans if you see these and want me to remove them, I certainly will. I would like to contact you by email via the website, but there is no 'Contact Us'.
